1. Lesson Content
Beginner riding lessons include much more than riding. Each one-hour lesson may include:
* Riding instruction
* Horsemanship
* Stable management
* Learning horse behavior and basic horse care
* Catching the horse from the paddock or field
* Bringing the horse into the barn
* Grooming
* Tacking up and untacking
* Cleaning and caring for the horse
* Leading the horse to and from the arena
All of the above activities are considered part of the lesson time.
⸻
2. Beginner Lessons
During the first few lessons, especially the first four sessions, a significant portion of the lesson may focus on horsemanship and horse handling.
Riding time may be limited, and in some cases, there may be no riding during the lesson, depending on the student’s progress and safety.
⸻
3. Lesson Schedule
Due to barn operations, horse management, and group lesson scheduling, beginner lesson start and finish times may occasionally vary slightly and may not always begin or end exactly as scheduled.
⸻
4. Weather & Horse Welfare
The safety and well-being of both riders and horses is our highest priority.
Lessons may be cancelled, rescheduled, or converted to horsemanship or stable management sessions due to:
* Extreme heat
* Extreme cold
* Thunderstorms or unsafe weather conditions
* Horse illness or welfare concerns
If riding is not considered safe, the lesson will focus on horsemanship and stable management instead.
⸻
5. Cancellations & Make-Up Lessons
If a lesson is cancelled by the instructor, the riding school, due to horse-related issues, or because of unsafe weather conditions, a make-up lesson will be provided.
If a student is unable to attend, at least 24 hours’ notice is required to qualify for a make-up lesson.
⸻
6. Group Lessons for Beginners
Group lessons are generally not recommended for complete beginners, as much of the first several lessons is dedicated to learning horsemanship and essential horse care skills.
